Cyclists follow the Tagliagliamento river in the Carnic Alps

Good news about the FVG 6 cycle path (Tagliamento river bike route). A few days ago, the mayor of Forni di Sopra, Claudio Coradazzi, announced that one million and 200 thousand euros will be invested to start building the cycling route that will run in the upper Tagliamento valley, connecting Forni di Sopra to Villa Santina (where the wonderful Carnia Cycle Route is already operational but continues in Val Degano up to Ovaro).

The completion of the Tagliamento River Cycle Route is thus envisaged in a stretch of considerable landscape, environmental and cultural interest. Furthermore, the construction of this cycle infrastructure will allow the connection between the Alpe Adria cycle path and the Dolomites cycle path that leads to Cortina di Ampezzo.

This work will certainly be very appreciated by lovers of two wheels! Currently, cyclists who want to reach Forni di Sopra can ride in relative safety on minor roads up to Ampezzo (Mediis). But then there are no alternatives to the state road that also passes through a rather long tunnel (about 2 km) and with a not very reassuring name (the Death Gallery)

It seems that the works will start already in the spring of 2023 thanks to the intervention of the Mountain Community of Carnia and the support of the Region.
